The barn that we will be transforming into an Education Centre for the Kuzuko Foundation.
What It's All About
For quite a while we have been playing with the idea of a project where we as family would be able to support a worthwhile cause with our skills, explore the world and experience local life in a different culture. Last year we wanted to move from talking to actually doing. After researching many worthwile projects, we finally settled on volunteering for the Kuzuko Foundation on the Eastern Cape of South Africa, at the Addo Elephant Reserve. The Kuzuko Foundation that runs the reserve have a fantastic ethos and approach to conservation and education, and we wanted to help in any way we could.
After some correspondence, it was decided that what was needed was to transform an old barn into an education centre. And so that became our goal. To clear it out, decorate the inside, and develop educational materials and display exhibits collected from nature. Young people will learn about the Great Addo Elephant Park, the protection of its animals and vegetation before they will explore the animals in the Kuzuko Farm School and/or go on safari into the game park. For conservation to be successful, Kuzuko believes that all children and young people need to learn to love and protect their heritage.
You can learn more about the project and the Kuzuko Foundation on this site and by following the links at the top of this page to our Fundraising page, our Facebook Group, Twitter, YouTube channel and our Blog.
